Facebook Unveils a Tor-Friendly .Onion Address for Anonymity

Wednesday, November 05, 2014 Posted by indrascott

Facebook unveiled a new .onion address specifically for Tor users last week. It won't make you truly anonymous, but it helps.

If you want to be truly anonymous when browsing Facebook, this won't make that happen, but Tor is better than nothing. The address, https://facebookcorewwwi.onion/, uses the Tor network to hide your IP address and mask your location. It also helps users connect to Facebook through Tor without getting their account being flagged for appearing to be hacked and logging in from an unusual location.

Complete anonymity isn't possible, especially considering how Tor works and how much data Facebook collects. However, using the new address can boost your privacy and hide your Facebooking from prying eyes, especially if you're already familiar with Tor. Hit the link below to learn more.
